I am a registered Social Worker in Ontario. I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from Dalhousie University and a Master of Arts degree in Social Justice and Equity Studies from Brock University. I began my social work career within the field of violence against women, working in a sexual assault support center and then a shelter for women leaving abusive relationships. I later went on to work in the field of mental health counseling, working with clients from all different backgrounds struggling with issues ranging from PTSD to anxiety to life transitions to daily stress.

I developed a particular interest in the treatment of PTSD and took a number of trainings in order to enhance my ability to help those struggling with trauma and its aftereffects. I have worked with survivors of sexual and domestic violence, first responders and active duty military members.

My work experience has shaped my view of not only the pervasiveness of trauma, but also the resilience and drive for change that I see in the clients I’ve had the honor to work with. I see my role as psychotherapist as a facilitator of change- as a collaborator in first identifying what changes you want to see and then using my skills and training to work with you to identify a path forward.

In my work, I use a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and I develop a treatment plan with you based on your unique situation. Therapies used include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness.

I know the importance of fit when working with a therapist. My style is non-judgmental, supportive and grounded in evidence-based practices. In order to ensure that we both feel that the fit is right, I offer a 20 minute free virtual consultation where I take the time to answer any questions you might have about my approach, therapy in general or your situation in particular.

Please feel welcome to reach out by phone or email to set up a consultation.
